May 1, 2012 : Today we spoke with Louise Renaud. She volunteered with MSF and recently got back from Ghana and Burkina Faso working as a photo reporter for Cuso international.
She spoke with us about the health issues she saw in Africa as well as the ethics of representing such issues with photos. HIV/AIDS is a problem in both areas but Ghana also has problems with malaria and cancer. Louise spoke about women: "the backbone of Africa," and the importance of gender equality in achieving equitable health outcomes in these areas.
