This summer the Federal government passed bill C-31, which cut health care coverage for refugees and refugee claimants in Canada. This included cuts to prenatal care, well child care and mental health care. To protest these inhumane cuts, on December 15 health care workers and other Canadians across the country participated in a National Day of Action.

This episode begins with a gathering on Parliament Hill to protest the controversial mailings by Saskatoon MP Kelly Block. There we spoke to MP Jinny Sims of the NDP and Dr. Mahli Brin-Damour, a pediatric resident and co-chair of the University of Saskatchewan College of Medicine's immigrant and refugee health committee.

Next we spoke with Dr. Alex Nataros, a family medicine resident who helped organize the National Day of Action for Refugee Health Care in Montreal. Lastly, we read an entry from Dr. Paul Caulford's Refugee Diaries blog.
