Follow up on last week's episode, Wilson, Lorraine, and Ilana took on the opportunity to speak to Dr. Gurekas, a rural family doctor in Témiscaming. Dr. Gurekas has been working in Témiscaming, a town of 3000 to 4000 population in Western Quebec since 1977. He described to us how medical services evolved, and the different roles of rural and urban doctors. He highly recommended medical school students to take on placements in rural medicine because it is a great way to learn technical skills and operative procedures.
